The Importance of Air Cleaners for Baby Room

In recent times, people have been buying air cleaners for their baby’s or kid’s rooms. This has been especially for those children suffering from allergies or asthma. However, some parents have placed silent air cleaners in the baby’s nursery even if the baby does not have any respiratory issues. Check out the list we’ve compiled for you below from

Choosing the right air cleaner for your baby is perhaps the most valuable investment a parent can make in the baby’s room – at least to safeguard the newborn’s health. The air in a nursery can become unfit to breathe due to the presence of bacteria, viruses, mold, pet dander and air pollution. There are a number of air cleaners that may look great in terms of nursery-room colors but are not really effective in cleaning the air thoroughly. And in fact trying to place an ionizing or ozone-generating air cleaner in the baby’s room can even worsen matters.

Numerous studies have indicated that babies are particularly susceptible to air pollution. A recent research found that mothers are in fact less vulnerable to DNA damage from air pollution than babies in the womb. According to a report in the journal Epidemiology, a Canadian study revealed that babies in places with moderate air pollution are at a greater risk of developing middle-ear infections. With this and several other studies, it is easy to see why air cleaners for baby room are essential.

There are some parents who wrongly think that an ionizing purifier is best for a baby’s room and have gone ahead to purchase it. However, although ionizing air cleaners are preferably quite, they are not safe at all.  What makes them dangerous is that ozone is emitted by the same technology that is used to produce negatively charged ions. You don’t want to take chances using ozone-producing air purifiers in a baby’s room when there are warnings against using such.

There are even some parents who ignorantly think that silence is good in a newborn’s room. This is contrary to what baby experts say. Even experienced parents know that a little noise in the room is actually helpful in lulling babies to sleep. Research has shown that babies tend to sleep best with some reasonable amount of noise referred to as “white noise”. An air cleaner will do the job perfectly.

It has been found that all that many babies need to fall asleep is the sound of the fan running in the air cleaner. On the other hand, other babies have been found to prefer either music or some sounds of nature. It is therefore important for you find out what works best for your baby by starting out small.  While some babies will require some more creative noise, others will easily respond to a mere fan running to help them relax and go to sleep.

Obviously, those air cleaners that run at faster speeds will produce more noise. However, the air cleaner should be placed in an appropriate position so that there won’t be any drafts in the baby’s crib.

A baby’s immune system and clean air are said to be intricately related. This is extremely important mainly during sleeping hours because this is the time the newborn breathes unpolluted air to enable its lungs and immune system to rest and refresh. Check out Aroundclock.
